What I promised was going to be my last moose hunt after 50 years at it, (due to age and health issues), ended with a bang.

Image

Saturday, October 8th, first day of Moose Hunt: Dropped a nice little 4 point buck at 8am. First part of hunt taken care of. (Limit is 7 deer but I was happy with 1).

Sunday October 9th, second day of Moose Hunt: Watched as at least an upper 60's bull walked by (with just the two of us in camp, would not have got this monster out this year). Gave him two grunts. When he turned his head to look at us, a much smaller bull popped out of the alders, not 60 yards away. My cousin took him.

October 10th to 14th: 4 days of horrible rain and wind.
October 11th, first day of chicken hunt: No moose hunting so we went for chickens. Got our limits includings a couple prairie chickens.

Friday October 14th, last day: 1 more hunt before breaking camp. At 8:30, found a cow and a calf. The calf was looking for a ride back to Quinte. I was happy to make room for her in my truck.

End of Moose Hunting for me? Or is it?

Now 26 hours on the road to Quinte. ("Adventure", I could sure use some photography lessons from you).

Congratulations on a great trip, be it your last or not, I guess you will find out next year. Pictures look great to me as well. Moose hunting is a lot of hard work and planning. Sure looks like you know how to do it right with a great combination of feats and feasts. I think you should try to throw a bear in there as well for next year though :)

Thanks for sharing your trip.

2 hours by gravel, North of Dryden. Between Lac Seul, and Thadeous Lake.
No problem finding game.
