was out yesterday along with about 30 other people. there was about 4-5 inches half white half black ice. Did not catch any myself and only saw a handful caught. This rain coming may cause some problems for the ice there however. I would check with the bait store "Dew drop inn", they are very close to that area and have always given me good advice as to the ice conditions in the area

Any other ideas for me guys, I've only ever fished huff's and green point in the winter but would like to go to the safest area! I hear big island but I'm not sure where to access the ice.

I fished out of 10 holes and didnt see 5" anywhere

I saw a consistent 3 inches 1/2 black 1/2 white it would crack if you stood too close to another person and 3" doesnt mean permanent ice quality There is safe out on quinte but huffs is one of the least safest locations, lots of current and it changes fast

Just because 30 guys are out there doesn't mean its safe I saw guys walk across ice that Ive seen have 2 inches when the rest was 5 last year and most of them without a spud or float suits

Sherman's only had about 2 in off of the boat launch ,Spider could see one guy from his house out from the ramp and a few at Thompsons but most were from Hickory lane North , Watch what happens with the weather turns, it could eat the ice up quick, and I am going to call Charlie for this weekend Justin , do you have any blindfold's  Actualy i should just drill holes beside him , I can't catch a cold this year and he could fall in and come up with a fish

PS The OPP were at the parking area way Too many cars and trucks don't know if anyone got ticketed or towed but i am sure it is just a matter of time

i was at huffs in the morning monday talking to the opp.i asked the officer if we would be getting any tickets here and he stated no because we are not bothering anybody. so i say lets drive slow down that road and clean up after ourselves and maybe by the grace of god we will be allright. be careful out there a fish is not worth your life!!!!!!!!

This is why I don't post much. Did you measure the ice? Because I did!!!
As I mentioned earlier if you read, I said to talk to the bait store nearby to see if the ice conditions have changed before going out as they are out there all the time. This isthe last time I post what I have seen.
