Got a visit out on the ice by 2 police officers today, as most of you probably did. Looks like we will be parking on the main road or risk getting a $40 ticket. Does not seem too safe to be parking on the main road. Lots of cars out there today at Huff's. The ticketing officer was out too, he says he normally stays away from Huff's unless there are complaints. It looked to me like there was lots of room for vehicles to move and no one's driveway was blocked. Oh well, some people will always complain for the sake of complaining.

if i was to call the police where i live and say ther were people parking out in front of my house i would get laughed at.As long as you are not impedeing snow removal the road is public property not property of the people who have an adress on this road.AS LONG as the residences have access to there residence and garbage is not being thrown onto to thereproperty a complaint should not be enough to warrent tickets being placed on everyones windshields.

its a shame for sure but isnt like i didnt see it coming.......... biggest problem is they cant plow if people are parked all over on days when you know there is no snow and it wont need to be plowed it would be much safer to park in these places.
I agree the do not own the road and we all pay taxes and thats why funds things like road matinance, and snow removal. but saying that we ALL must think about what we do and how we do it...... what is it they say you never know until you walk in the other guys shoes so think about that and put yourself in that guys place. think about the noise, the lights shining in peoples windows, the cussing and swearing, the garbage left behind...... most of the year these people enjoy the peace and quiet and now they have to bear the brunt of the onslaught of endless traffic basically in there back yards .
Im always on the side of the fishermen but i do see the other side as well and sometimes some of the things i see out there it leaves me little wonder why they would not be so quick to welcome there back yards to countless strangers who all seem quick to take but give back nothing.

I was also talking to the ticket officer, I asked him if they are ticketing people. he told me no they arent,he was there only to take pictures and to make sure no driveways were blocked.he is going to council to resolve by trying to make more parking safer they dont want to ticket and dicourage people from coming to the bay. they want to promote it.he said there is a lot of money brought in because of the fishing doesnt want to loose it.

Well they are doin a good job of loosing it! The bay is the hottest ice fishing people wanna do! Maybe the should invest in making parking areas around the bay cuz from what I see there's hundreds of people coming from all over to fish it!

Take the ticket to the JP and have it thrown out. They have no grounds to right a ticket if you can prove it was a clear day and not snowing.

2 things to remember. Any propert owner can erect a no parking sign but unless municipal council has bylaw in place it means nothing. I also think the corresponding bylaw must be posted on the sign. Either that or something from the municipality like a contact #.

I think you are exactly right parksy.......... seems to be maybe alot of land grabbing going on lol.... like i own the house on this side of the road that means i own the water on the other side but do they really ? id for sure like to see land deeds along places like North road on Big Island where you see houses on one side and a bank to the water on the other side,,,,,,, i know there is many places with no parking signs but are they official ? I do know the plow guys dont want you parked on the road when they have to plow in the snow times but even then these areas should be marked with official signs so people know where they CAN, and CANT park... most mean no all night parking the county bylaw is the absolute worst if you read thru all the mumbo jumbo it pretty well means you cant ppark on the side of any road period some lawyer covering all the bases pretty well saying we can give you a parking ticket any time we dam well please lol google and check it for your self lol its a good real that leaves you laughing, and shaking your head a ticket i got 3 years ago i got tossed out simply because the ticket did not name an offence i think it said something like 3 reasons parking in a no parking zone, parking in a handy cap, parking in a fire zone, and other. nothing was checked so why would i plee guilty.... then they said i must have been parking in a no parking zone so i said how would i know that there was no no parking sign in place he said send in the ticket we will throw it out . but i wonder how many just send in the 40 bucks not knowing they really do have rights by the way my ticket was issued by the county bylaw officer not the OPP and it was on a sunday when they arnt even paid to work lol and funny a bylaw officer lives just up the road a bit from where i got the ticket .

I heard some weekenders started parking on the grass on quick short road so now they are ticketing again and towing too, that's what the guy who lives there says. Got a ticket for parking on the road last week. There are some no parking signs looks like from the county. Why do they have to spoil it for everyone just keep off peoples property and stay on the road then we wouldn't have a problem?
