Launched at 7 a.m this morning. Air temp -3 water temps 47-49. Marked lots of fish in the weeds 7-10 FOW. Got a few to hit above the weeds on Husky Jerks. Tough fishing. Had to clear your line of weeds every cast, but the fish were there. A couple more weekends on Rice for eaters, then it's Quinte time.

Wish I could give you a specific spot, but I can't. Seems to be hit and miss. Last Saturday I fished the same spot as I did the weekend before, where I caught, and the fish were still there (according to the Humminbird) but couldn't get them to hit. They seem to be shallow. 8-10 FOW in the weeds.

Looking forward to your report

Fish any weedline right about now from 5-9ft, ripping bucktails, or throwing crankbaits along the edge, and you should get some fish! They've been on fire the past few weeks. Same with the Smallies!

managed to get out on Rice thursday about 4pm,fished til 730ish...not much luck for us,had few small bites but nothing to get excited about, put in at Gores and went to an island for some trolling with worm harnesses but notta, headed over to the tracks and Tick island(??) and trolled around there but notta, about 7pm we decided to start heading back when I get a light tug, scratched my head wondering what? a fish or weed it was light, then dragged it off a rock(or so I thought) then I pulled back a bit and felt something there, but still the pole wasnt bending or tugging and I finally felt another tug so what the heck I figured its now or never I set the hook and fish on!! landed approx 17 inch eye,but I must admit it wasnt much of a fight, not only was the bite light but the fight was real weak it just kinda let me reel it in...lol
but like I said to my buddy, they all taste the same no matter how hard they fight huh

starting trolling with orange coloured worm harness then switched to red/white one about 6ish
next weekend were off to my buddies cottage in point abaril where we usually get about 75-100 in a weekend, cant wait!!

I find minnows work better this time of year. I use worm harnesses more in the late spring/summer. If your going to troll, maybe try trolling crankbaits. Or one guy with a harness, and one guy with a crankbait. Like Stoty mentioned earlier, get in, or close to the weeds. They are in there. If you are trolling in the dark, get right in tight on the shoreline and troll shallow crankbaits.
My 2 cents.

Thanks for the update
Good Luck out there.

Big Jim's Bucktail jigs are your best friend in the Spring and fall...on Rice. Trust me! ;-)

pickerel killer--we fish the shwanagan river(sp??),after you enter the narrow opening it widens into 3-4 pretty big bays...pretty much anywhere in there is good
