Hi guys, I am in the market for a reliable trail camera.

Value for the dollar, clear pictures and easy to set up and use.

Availability too?

Any ideas?

Best bets are Spypoint IR-5 ($129) or the u-way NT-150($169) both are dependable and work well for me< have several

Thanks Red

I must have been reading your mind.
I went out on Monday and purchased a Spypoint IR5.
Amazingly easy to set up out of the box.
I set it up on the back patio and on the front porch.
Video picked up people walking on sidewalk from front step to across the street. A little farther than the 50 feet it said it would do.
Looking forward to next week at camp. See what is actually in the woods.

Thanks Rd
Suds

Anyone care to comment on what makes one camera better than other? What are the options that would be best to have? Which battery set-up lasts the best--I've seen tripleA's and C's? rechargable packs?
I'm thinking of getting a couple trail cams and of course I'd like to get the most bang for my dollars.
Any info would be appreciated.

Look at the last couple years trail cam pics and you can see the difference between pictures from different cameras. The 2010 is a sticky at the top and search for trail cam pics 2011 for last years thread.

I set mine out yesterday and hopefully we can get the 2012 trail cam pics going again this year.

Ya...I've had a lot of fun going through them. Some definitely take better pictures than others...but that doesn't really to speak to things like battery life, weatherproofness, etc. I've had a few friends remind me that you get what you pay for--more money usually equals better quality unit.
I was just wondering if there was different qualities to look for other than just how many pixels are in a picture.
Cheers

My Moultrie D55IR gets about 4-500 pictures or so on six "C" batteries. I've used it in all seasons incuding late winter with no problems. This is its third year and I really like it. If I had to get picky, I'd say I would like color photos for nighttime instead of b+w.
