Hey Everyone, had the chance to get out this saturday for the first time for some fall walleye fishing. My father and I were entered in the annual derby at Sherman's point hosted by Les Corbay. Dad couldn't make it due to severe back pain so my little brother Fareed stepped in. Met a bunch of familiar faces in the morning before launching. We were launched and fishing by 7 am. Planned on making a run to east of the ferry but since the derby ended at 1:30pm, I found it pointless. Trolled a few passes from right out from the launch to thompson's point then to sherman's point with nothing to show for a few hours, no other nets in the water so far and no fish on the screen. At 9:15, fustrated we made a move to long reach. Started marking fish and At 9:32 we had our first fish on of the day. Passed the rod to my brother and the fight was on. :D :D :D

Image

After a nervous battle we had the fish in the net ... okay I was the nervous one but little bro came through. She looked to be around 5 pounds and measured 25.5”. :D :D :D

Image

Turned on the livewell to find out it didn’t work, probably since the boat was never used all spring and summer since I left to go up north. Oh well I put my bro straight to work

Image

Made him take 10 cups out and 10 back in every 15 minutes

We continued trolling, we needed bigger!!! Seeing as last year a 13 pounder had won it. Not being on the forums I really didn’t know if the fish were in or not but we still trekked on the same trails while marking here and there. After a couple more hours of trolling the same area we had a board go off ..12:30… Fish ON! :D My bro gave me the rod even though I was going to let him fight it … it felt heavier and after a great fight she was barely landed but ours! She looked to be around a chunky 8 or 9 pounds with a length of 29.5”. :D :D :D

Image

Kept trolling for another half an hour before heading back to the boat launch for weigh-ins. My brother’s fish weighing in at 5.47 pounds and mine weighing in at 9.16 pounds… After getting the boat on the trailer and the weigh ins coming to an end, I found out my fish had actually came in 1st place :D :D :D and my little bro’s coming in 4th :D :D :D … and a grand total of 4 fish entered. Superdad was 2nd and I can’t remember 3rd. All in all a great run derby and a slow day on the water for many. All fish were released successfully. Found out by my dad that the connector for the livewell was not hooked up to the battery, oh well my bro got a work out  The best is yet to come!

Aadil

It was nice to see you again and to cath up with your life - and then you win the derby - Great!!!!!!!

With little bros in 4th, it's win-win situation.

Take care - C U on hte water in the fall ( if you can make back to Quinte???)

Good job buddy, congrats on the win.

Taking the boat to hopefully get her fixed today. Maybe we can get out before freeze up.

Al

Nice fish guys!!! They look alot bigger in the pictures than what they actually weigh. The 5 looks like an 8, and the 9 looks like a 12. Maybe my camera is too old, or I just don't know how to pose..LOL

Congrats again.

Way to go pal. Nothing like spending time with your little brother and making some coin to boot.
Hope to see you soon. I might be able to get out for a ice fish this year so be sure to save me a fish.
Happy fishing. J
