Question guys, I currently own a boat with huminbird 587 ci fishfinder/gps, which i use my navionics chips for navigation info... I may be selling this boat for a fish and ski boat, which has two depthfinders, but i dont believe any gps... My question is are there handheld gps units that take the navionics chips? basically im wondering what my best option is for marine gps?

cheers,

Mike

The Magellan eXplorist series will take the Navionics Hotmaps Premium C6. The Lowrance H2O will take the older Navionics Gold but not the newer chips with the new data. Hope this helps.

We do not sell the Magellan units any longer. They do a great job of displaying the maps, however many found them a little complicated to use. We only sell Garmin units but unfortunately they do not use the Navionics charts. The plus side to Garmin is their maps are signification less expensive than Navionics.

I would highly recommend using a fixed mount GPS in a boat as a handheld screen is very small and hard to navigate with on bigger water. The cost difference isn't much when going from a small handheld to a 4" screen GPS/sonar unit. Take a look at the Humminbird 386ci or the Lowrance Elite 4 units.
