I heard an 18' tracker boat got into some trouble and sunk.

four guys went for a swim only to be picked up by a charter boat.

glad the boat traffic is high so that someone was around.

be careful out there guys....

an 18' boat is not small. folks with smaller boats, be aware of what 'can' happen out there.

please, i know 'hunting' outfits and other forms of clothing can keep you warm out there, but full blown survival/float suits need to be worn out there...

ok lets talk servival suits over floatations suits . do not be confused. 99.9% do not OWN a servival suit they own a flotation suit that will not keep you alive it will keep you floating...... cold is cold and you will most definatly die of hyperthermia in the same amout of time as if you were in a snow suit or work cloths sweaters pants jackets so please do not think for a second a flotation suit will keep you alive longer it will not. these boys were lucky to have people like scott or sheldon around in there time of need could you just imagin if the only other boat around was another 16 footer with 4 guys already on board that could be a disaster for 8 guys instead of 4 guys. great job scott and sheldon....... its a comfort to know there is men such as you out there at this time of the year. and there is many guys out there who would have done the same thing . its best we all keep our eyes and ears open out there and look out for eachother!

griz, the floatation suit will at least keep you floating, the snow suit or work clothes or sweaters pants jackets will not.

even if your a strong swimmer, being weighed down by the soaked clothes is not going to help.

your right that a floatation suit will not keep you from hypothermia, but it will keep you on the surface for folks (like in this case) to find you.

I totally agree steve 100 persent agreee thay keep you up top thats where you need to be so dont a life jacket one or the other should be worn at this time of the year was out thuresday water was 39 degrees thats too cold to last long they are lucky someone was close by 5 mminutes can make all the differance in the world out there

Glad everyone got off safe, allthough in my opinion an 18 foot boat with 4 guys in it is pretty iffy ( weather permitting) I applaud the 2 rescuers but as boaters we are obligated to help(make no mistake, they saved their lives) now lets talk saftey...how many guides or charters have VHF radios and more importantly know how to use them? 15 years ago I heard a help call out of Bowmanville and with no answer back I went looking for them, found 8 guys in the water with a charter boat sunk, pulled a couple out and called for help and had a ton of guys show up to help, everyone got off ok but when I talked to the "captain" later he told me he wasn't licenced to use his VHF and thought help was ok???? Here is a guy taking people out for money with no clue how to use the most basic saftey equipment on his boat. I still think in this day and age the most basic saftey item is the VHF and know how to use it......rant over

Heartfelt kudos to the Guardians on the Bay today. We were upwind ready to assist and it was surreal watching it unfold before our eyes. She got pretty ugly out there.

Glad that Scott was in the area and pulled these guys out
As for safety: One good thing about the floatation suits is that some have straps or belts for tightening, around the waist and on the cuffs and sometimes the thighs. When you cinch them up it helps to preserve the water in the suit and it will act like a wet suit. It will not keep you from hypothermia but for a short duration it might make that difference. Glad everyone was wearing one.

Glad things worked out and help was near by.
Don't understand the boat sinking I thought they were required to have level flotation.

First of all, thank God for Scott and Sheldon !! Hats off to you two for saving these four men. Man, scary stuff. Like horsehunter asked though, what happened? Bad winds today. Did they spear a wave and take on water?
